Overall, I thought our first Sunday School class meeting went well. We went past Father Theophan's decreed ending time -- 9:50 -- so I will have to do a better job of bringing the class to a close in a timely manner.
My choice of the King James Version (KJV) for the New Testament scripture passages was not the best. The KJV was translated in 1611; the English language has changed greatly since then, so it is a difficult translation to understand for native English speakers -- despite what the "KJV Only" advocates claim. It is certainly not a good choice for those for whom English is a second language -- which includes many who attend St. Innocent.
Your thoughts and recommendations are welcome.

I am leaning toward the World English Bible (WEB). It is an updated version of the American Standard Bible (which is now in the public domain); it is a good, faithful translation; it is quite readable; it includes the Apocrypha (which we use, but is omitted in many modern translations); and it is in the public domain (the copyright was deliberately waived).
